Ume Burger – Best Juicy Burger by Darling Harbour

A lot of friends have been asking what Australian cuisine is about, and sometimes even criticise its originality. I found myself often just mumbled about it. I am still in search for that but so far I found Australian cuisine the most vibrant cuisine because the country has such a mix of culture and restaurants owners tend to keep its originality from its root. Thus, you may find some of the classic Western food items like burgers, steak, pizzas, while some Asian, European, or even African cuisines are also playing some big roles and they are often the hidden gems.

Speaking about BURGERS, perhaps it is one of the most overrated and overpriced food in Hong Kong. You may need to spend HKD 100 for a basic burger with just the works. We stopped by Barangaroo today as they have a great dining scene here with difference vibe and price range.

Ume Burger has been highly recommended by my friend and have been named one of the best burgers in town.We love how the restaurants in the area are so close to the Darling Harbour. Customers may enjoy a relaxing meal complimented with a beautiful seaview.

Ume Burger offers a range of gourmet burgers, different styles of chips, housemade soda, a whole page of alcoholic drinks including a fine selection of Japanese sake, and even soft serve to finish off! We are here here for the first time so we went everything signature and classic.

Ume Burger AUD 14.6

Their infamous Ume Burger is constructed with a thick piece of juicy beef pattie and the works. What’s so special about it? They loaded the burger with a slap of wagyu mince sauce and american cheese. The wagyu sauce is meaty and savoury, but packed with strong beefy taste. Somewhat like a fancy version of bolognese sauce to me. And come on, admit it. American cheese is fake cheese but it’s the best cheese in the world!

The burger wasone of the best I have ever had. Every mouthful has a perfectly balanced savouriness and freshness from the fresh veggies while the beef aroma was powerful and the texture was very tender I have requested for medium-rare and the pattie was done flawlessly. It was a decent sized burger and the aftertaste would literally stay with you for a little while, which was quite a memorable dining experience from such a quick meal.

Hot Chips AUD 4.8

We couldn’t have burgers without chips and we once again went for the basic ones. Can’t say they are the crunchiest chips ever but I liked the natural umami seasoning which has a subtle sweet taste, gotta admit it’s kinda addicting.

Passionfruit Ginger Soda AUD 6

Wash it down with some housemade ice cold soda. There are 3 flavours available (passionfruit ginger, yuzu brown sugar, and strawberry vanilla). They are not too sweet nor too fizzy to my liking. Absolutely refreshing and delicious!

Verdict

Possibly the best burger you an find in Barangaroo. Ume Burger has another restaurant in Surry Hills, while the Barangaroo branch remained as a cozy burger shop. Go there and get your burger fix now, without a second thought!
