12,000 Francs – Rustic Crafty Crazily Delicious Brunch

12,000 Francs is one of the most inspiring restaurants in Hong Kong because guests are often amazed by its unique dining concept of using ancient preservation methods.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into their newly launched brunch menu for only $290 per person and $150 for kids!

For an extra $290, you may let loose to enjoy a free-flow of their rare champagne, crafty cocktails, finely selected wine, and prosecco!

On the left, there is “Queen Bloody Mary” using interesting ingredients like Fair Trade vodka, kimchi, and more. On the right, there is the classic G&T “ON TAP”!

Brunch is meant for sharing so there are some smaller plates for you to share with your friends and don’t be surprised that the first dish that you will see on the table would a sweet dish.

Small Plates

Assorted Donuts

Who says you can’t start a day with some sweetness? The first dish being brought to our table shows the character of 12,000 Francs. We have got a mix of sugared and chocolate glazed cake-y donuts. These cute mini donuts are a bit crunchy on the outside and quite firm on the inside. They are pretty satisfying but you won’t want to leave a crumb!

Cured and Pickled

The next sharing plate plays safe by having a plateful of savoury Dehesa White Duroc Serrano ham, which is always nice to be complimented by some appetising pickled veggies.

Bread Basket

Don’t underestimate these serious carbs. The restaurant’s rustic housemade sourdough is simply addictive with a strong yeast flavour and crusty texture on the outside, while their cultured butter and seasonal house jams are also not to be missed.

Despite the fact that butter is one of the best source of fat to have in our diet, cultured butter rides on the benefit by providing extra helpful bacterial!

Green and Grains

A healthy salad is then served with a fresh selection of mixed greens including the super food Kale, smoked salmon, toasted grains, in a very light yogurt dressing. The finely selection veggies is very fresh with crunchy texture in every single bite and the subtle smokiness and savouriness just cut through that refreshing grassy taste from the greens.

Kimchi Devils

Taking a new twist on this traditional Western appetiser, the last sharing plate is a few pieces of perfectly soft boiled devil eggs, inventively presented with some house kimchi, aioli, and coriander instead. A simple mouthful of joy is what it is.

Main Course

There are six amazingly delicious mains to choose from the menu. From as sample as polenta to the very exciting freshly made montanara.

Pasta of the Day

Today, we had homemade Tagliatelle with braised rendang style pork cheeks and pickled jicama. The powerful rendang aroma just rushed into the air, marking it my friend’s all time favourite from the restaurant.

Steak and Eggs (+ $45)

We have a few friends would just come here for their steak because they are absolutely beautiful. Indulge yourself with some delicate meat at brunch because the restaurant has got you covered with a beautiful cut of wagyu bavette sitting on a bed of broccoli and brown butter puree. The thickly sliced steak is succulent and extremely flavourful, complimented nicely with the subtly sweet sauce which maximizes the intensity of the beef taste. To give you extra energy throughout the day, some fluffy scrambled eggs and avocado on toast is all you need.

Montanara Ranchera

The restaurant has been famous for its montanara which is a lightly fried pizza topped with exotic toppings like poached Japanese organic egg, smoked jowl bacon, black beans, with a drizzle of ranchero sauce and a sprinkle of ricotta salata.

Polenta and Egg (Vegetarian)

Vegetarians are loved with this sexy smooth polenta with a runny poached organic egg , spinach, turnip, and just a bit of pecorino sardo cheese.

Dessert

Eat Cake (+ $68)

Brunch is never completed without dessert. With a reasonable extra cost, you may enjoy a few selections of cake, ice cream, or even cheese. We have picked their carrot and parsnip cake with cream cheese frosting and it came generous in size, perfect for sharing.

Brunch is very much in the game now. When countless of restaurants are pushing their free-flow / a la carte brunch menu, 12,000 Francs sticks to its root by offering a fine selection of rustic dishes with its own attitude. You will be surprised, you will be amazed, but you will not be shocked with the bill because of its very reasonable price for the good quality!
