Cozy Cafe in Birchgrove – Charlotte’s Cafe

This is our first time coming to Birchgrove so we did a bit of Google map search before driving. We found that there is a peaceful Birchgrove wharf just a min drive away from the park so we have decided to come and take some sick pic.

The wharf is facing the Harbour Bridge and you can just take a ferry to go some other places from around AUD 7+ per adult. Otherwise, it is a really peaceful and you would often found a few people fishing here but make sure you are following the Aussie’s rule when you fish here (I have no idea though).

Birchgrove is surprisingly a quiet suburb when compared to Balmain and Rozelle which are the most nearby suburbs. There are only a hand full of cafes available in the area so we stopped by Charlotte’s Cafe for a quick brunch on the Queen’s Birthday.

The cafe has some outdoor area and the indoor ambient has a green and wooden warm vibe to it. I also notice the customers in here are calm and friendly, which is making me feel like home.

There are a good selection of sandwiches and little cakes from the fridge for you to savour and a full menu is also available for you to order at the counter. The menu mainly consists of a wide variety of all-day-breakfast options as well as some hearty picks like wraps, burgers or more.

I love how they have most of the things house-made and house-marinated. There are many jars of pickles on the shelves which you may find in some of their dishes, especially the Mediterranean dishes.

Green Machine AUD 7

Charlotte Cafes is famous for their freshly squeezed juice so why not some fibre to cleanse our body after a long weekend? The green machine is probably the healthiest of the healthiest because it is made with a delicious replenishing combination of celery, apple, cucumber, and mint. I just can’t get enough of it.

House-smoked salmon + spinach + poached egg

A brand new dish on the menu and it should always stay on the menu because it is very delicious, let me just say this out loud. The fragrant smokey aroma just rushes into the air as soon as the dish is brought to us. The woody smokey smell is out of this world and I can’t wait to taste it already.

Besides, the egg benedicts are done flawlessly with the perfect runny yolks and the Hollander is also not too sour to my liking. The seeded bread is nicely toasted with a crunchy edges, while the spinach in the middle just eases things down a little bit. Overall, it’s a beautiful plateful of healthy goodness.

Falafel Wrap + tahini + house pickles

I have been trying to compared different falafel in town lately and find their little chickpea balls a lot nuttier than other places because they have added quite a generous amount of sesame seeds in it. It’s firm and a bit crunchy from the sesame seeds which I like.

The housemade pickles balance out the savouriness from the falafel nicely and give a slight sweet and sour taste.

Verdict

One of the most relaxing cafe I have ever been to. It’s very spacious with warm lighting and cozy environment. The staffs are really friendly and experienced which means they would give you your privacy when needed and you could feel free to stay longer for one more cup of coffee or sweet treat! And y
