Joomak Launches Winter Hotpot Menu

Joomak has recently launched a brand new winter menu featuring mainly hotpot to welcome the cold weather! Before we enjoy our meal, we enjoy the nice seaview overlooking the buzzing Victoria Harbour between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.

The restaurant serves traditional Korean food with a lot of seasonal dishes. Located on the 3/F of LCX, Joomak is very accessible either by taking the ferry or MTR.

Korean Ginseng with French Spring Chicken Soup

The whole piece of small chicken similar to a size of spring chicken is stuffed with sticky rice which is a very traditional method of preparing this dish in Korea. The chicken is really soft in texture yet its strong chicken taste still remains.

The soup base has been simmered for long hour and it has been prepared with lots of healthy goji berries and a few stalks of ginseng. The perfect superfood for women to fight against this coming cold winter!

The first platter comes with a whole tail of live lobsters, great clams, prime US beef and US Berkshire pork belly slices, along with some kale and cabbages at the bottom.

The staff would be kind enough to cut the lobster into small pieces and the lobster roe is widely spread across the whole lobster head. The fresh seawater taste from the lobster is very profound and the flesh is really crunchy yet tender.

The thinly sliced meat only takes a few seconds to be cooked and the even meat and fat ratio making the delicate meat melt in your mouth.

Then a platter of mixed veggies and some more hotpot goodness were brought to us incluuding some homemade minced kimchi cuttlefish and dace fish, sweet corns, zucchini, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins. They are all very fresh with a good sharp crunchy texture. It’s nice to have some greens at any hotpot dinner to make the soup a lot sweeter in taste.

Cystalline Iceplant $38

One of our favourite veggies to enjoy. The iceplant is particularly crunchy with a bursting feel when biting into it. The playful veggie absorbed all the flavours from the soup after being cooked for just a few minutes. Absolutely delightful.

Left: Ginger and Pineapple Slush $58

Right: Ginseng and Honey Slush $78

These are two of the new slushes that the restaurant has launched, the very ice cold drinks are made with fresh fruits and fresh ingredients including pieces of real ginseng. The ginger and pineapple one tasted a bit smoother with a sweeter taste, while the ginseng and honey one is a bit more subtle with a stronger milkiness.

With a relatively reasonable price, you may enjoy a scrumptious hotpot meal using all healthy good ingredients prepared by traditional Korean cooking method. We would definitely come back again for their Korean beef set!
