John Lobb Bespoke Boots and Shoes Service

John Lobb provides bespoke boots and shoes service for over 150 years. The company last maker, Francois Maddonini’s father was a leatherworker in the Company Marius Pat (subsidiary of Hermès). When he was born, in 1958, his parents were the owners of a high end shoe boutique. In 2004, Mr Maddonini joined the Bespoke department of John Lobb as last maker.

The artisanal bespoke process is carried out in Paris workshop at 32 rue de Mogador. Each unique pair requires an average of 50 hours work by highly qualified craftsmen. We were told that there are only 400-500 pairs of bespoke products could be made!

First Appointment

The Master Last-Maker initiates the process by taking a series of foot measurements, while the client chooses the model, shape of the foot is sculpted in hornbeam wood.

Second Appointment

The client returns to try on a mock-up of the shoes. This allows the craftman to further refine the precision of the last that will be used to create the desired pair.

Third Appointment

Consists of the final fitting and delivery of the John Lobbs. The nine-month bespoke process is then completed with a perfect finish product.

Every pair of John Lobbs created in the bespoke workshop is designed to offer the client many long year of comfort. The brand’s shoes offer not only sturdiness and timeless elegance, but unique comfort. They have no generic size or width, they will fit only the client who ordered them. John Lobb bespoke shoes are an extension of the personality of the wearer.

In Hong Kong, the service is available in March, July, and November.
