LQV x Akari Guided Wine Pairing Dinner

We are honoured to have the chance to try the professional LQV guided wine pairing dinner at Akari, a cozy Japanese restaurant located in Mid-Level. We started our mouth watering journey with a delicious Sashimi platters paired with the amazing Domaine Pelle Menetou Salon Morogues 2014. The sweetness of the Shrimp and Scallops Sashimi were highlighted by the amazing acidity and zestiness of this great Sauvignon Blanc produced just on the West side of the Famous Sancerre Appelation. 

We then moved on to a delicately made Sushi platters paired with a great Alsace Pinot Blanc K 2013 from Domaine Kubler. Kubler’s delicate approach to his wine making created its stone fruit laced with floral scents were matching wonderfully well with the very well prepared fresh sushi. 



The following dish was a mix Vegetable Skewers paired with the Domaine Des Chardons “Clairette de Bellegarde”. The vegetal and earthy character of the little known grape Clairette de Bellegarde were a fantastic pairing with the Grilled Mushroom and Tomatoes. 

Meanwhile, the succulent moist Chicken Skewers paired with a 2012 Bourgogne Les Prielles From Domaine Berthaut, luscious Pinot Noir with a velvety texture and his red currant, Raspberry aromas. Classic white meat dish partner.

To match with a series of skewers, a selection of Beef, Pork and lamb was served along with Deela 2010 from Domaine Les Aurelles A GSM from the Languedoc region, featuring subtle spices along with ripe fruit aromas, a fresh well balanced wine was an ideal match for the pork neck skewers. 

This wonderful dinner was finished beautifully with refreshing Yuzu Sorbet paired with a late harvest grand cru Zinnkoepfle Pinot Gris 2009 from Domaine Kubler located in Alsace. Kubler Wines is never disappointing and is always true to his terroir and let the grape varieties express their true personality. Floral aromas along with stone fruits with a nice acidity frame were the perfect end of a great dinner.
