Food Review: L Place Cafe – A cozy cafe in buzzing area

L Place Cafe is a newly opened cafe located in Shum Shui Po, just right between two very famous noodles shops. The restaurant serves lunch, brunch, tea, and dinner, offering a wide range of pasta, risotto, salad, steak, coffee, and cakes. L Place Cafe uses all homemade ingredients as well as their very delicious homemade cake for you to go down with your nice cup of coffee.

Do you recgonise him? Yes, he is Oscar, you might have seen him on TV or magazines before! If you are lucky enough, you may be able to see him in person!

Chocolate Trio smoothie ($40)

Perfect for chocolate lover. What’s not to love for chocolate drink with chocolate toppings with cream and sprinkles on top? It was definitely a sweet treat for us.

3D Cappuccino ($36)

A must order at L Place Cafe. The pattern varies but yay, we got a cute kitty 🙂 They don’t use 3D gun yet the barrister uses his skills to make the 3D pattern milk foam. It was somehow too cute to drink but it was instead very yummy in terms of the flavour from their coffee bean.

Braised Beef Cheeks in Red Wine with Mash Potato ($138)

Beef cheek is one of the most tender meat and we love how they marinated it for overnight and sous vide for around 4-5 hours. Do not miss out on their mash potato because they are so nice too! The mash was not too runny nor too heavy in cream, instead, it was full of the original taste of potato.

Pan-fried Seabass with Capsicum Remoulade ($138)

Their seabass is from Chile and it was cooked perfectly with just right tenderness and it was so juicy that it went really well with its remoulade sauce. The remoulade sauce uses blended mayo with peeled grilled red capsicum to bring out the fresh flavour from the fish.

There are a few choices of cake daily. If you are ordering a dinner set, you may add $20 for to enjoy a slice. Meanwhile, you can also enjoy it in the afternoon with the cake of the day and a cup of coffee/tea for only $35! It is such a value, you may only get a cup of coffee somewhere else with that price.

Blueberry Cheesecake

Blueberry cheesecake is almost like a must for any cafe but this one is is one of the signature cakes. It was one of the densest New York cheesecake we have had for a long time. We particularly liked how they make the bottom crust which is so crispy and thick. The whole thing was just rich and

Mango mousse cake

The mango mousse was so mooth and strong and fresh mango flavour. At the bottom, there is another layer of mango mousse inside, along with some slightly sour raspberry cake.

We recommend you to try this restaurant because they offer high standard food with an affordable price. Sometimes it is hard to find a comfortable place to sit down and relax in Shum Shui Po area, and it is even harder to find a decent cafe, but I think we have already found one for you now. We were treated nicely with their good service and scrumptious food, and we will be back again!
